Lite is a complete free product, not a time-limited trial. It does not hide Pro code behind a license key; Pro is a separate plugin.
What you keep when you upgrade
Section titled “What you keep when you upgrade”Lite and Pro share the same data model:
- Database tables with the
wps_*prefix (documents, signers, fields, audit logs, signatures, tags, and related rows) - Secure file storage used by the plugin on your server
- Encryption key handling compatible with Pro
When Pro is active, Lite does not load. Your existing documents, signers, and audit history remain. You do not re-upload completed work to “migrate.”
Which edition should you use?
Section titled “Which edition should you use?”Choose Lite if you need a few PDF signatures on your own WordPress site, at most two signers per document, and you are fine with local timestamps and email OTP.
Choose Pro if you need unlimited signers, Bulk Send, campaigns or templates, integrations, addons, client portal, REST API/webhooks, external TSA, or full white-label branding.
Is Lite a trial?
Section titled “Is Lite a trial?”No. Lite stays free with its published limits. Pro is a separate paid product.
Can Lite and Pro run at the same time?
Section titled “Can Lite and Pro run at the same time?”Do not rely on both being active together. When Pro is installed and active, Lite steps aside so only one product UI loads. Keep one edition active.
Where do I install each edition?
Section titled “Where do I install each edition?”- Lite: WordPress admin → Plugins → Add New (search WPsigner), or the wordpress.org listing when published.
- Pro: Download from the Account Portal and install the ZIP. Details: Installation.
Will I lose documents if I buy Pro?
Section titled “Will I lose documents if I buy Pro?”No. Pro reads the same tables and storage. See What you keep when you upgrade.
Does this documentation cover Lite or Pro?
Section titled “Does this documentation cover Lite or Pro?”Most guides describe the full product (Pro) and shared workflows. Each page shows an edition badge (Lite, Pro, or Lite + Pro). Pro-only pages include an Upgrade button. This comparison page is the SEO hub for Lite vs Pro.
